Art Science Collaboration

Eleanor is collaborating with the plant sciencist Dr Sebastian Schornack at Sainsbury Laboratory Cambridge University. During her AA2A residency at Buckingham New University October 2021 - June 2022 she created a new body of work inspired by his research on fungi, liverwort plant and plant proteins, looking at plant immunity and mutually beneficial relationships in the plant world. Her work explores ideas of visual connection between plant forms and bodily organs and the idea of ‘living breathing organisms’. The etchings, drawings and ceramic sculptures were exhibited in June 2022, in a show together with fellow AA2A artists and BA students at Buck New University.
